    Anon10128,

A flip-flop is a sequential circuit and an adder is a combinational circuit. Did the question have anything more than this?

    Thanks,
    Anup

No sir I am not sure. Actually it is a question asked to our seniors. They have sent a experience ppt, in that ppt this question is given.

    Thank you.

    Good evening,

That means there is no use of adding that D-flip flop in the circuit. Or it has some other purpose?

    Thank you.

    Anon10128,

D flip-flop in the circuit is being used to temporarily store the result and forward to the next stage after a clock cycle delay. You can also think it as a pipeline register.
